Got a Tip?

File Under Things You Didn’t Know: Hayden Christensen Felt Gipped Over Dylan Role In ‘Factory Girl’

Actually, file this under things we didn’t know. We didn’t pay much attention to most of the brouhaha surrounding “Factory Girl,” (starring Sienna Miller) because a) it looked like a piece of shit and b) reviews said as much (though we did note that Harvey Weinstein apparently butchered it with his scissorhands).

Anyhow, as you probably know, Hayden Christensen co-starred in the Edie Sedgwick biopic ostensibly playing Bob Dylan. But when Dylan’s people found out about the unauthorized portrayal, they threatened to sue and the ‘Factory’ producers got scared and made Christensen re-dub all of his lines so they’d be free of the adenoidal and nasal trademark Dylan voice we all know.

Christensen was pissed; so pissed he never even went to see the film.

“I signed up to play Bob Dylan and it’s a biopic. A true story. I learned how to at least pretend to play the guitar and did a scene where I wrote a song and performed it,” Contact Music recently noted (though they pinch unattributed quotes all the time, fucking British twat press). “But later, because he threatened to sue, I had to go in and… re-dub my whole performance and change the way my character talked, because I had been doing the Dylan voice. I don’t know what’s onscreen in the end because I never saw it, but I do know it’s very different from what I did, and I was sort of pissed with the people who made the movie.”

As we noted in our brief mention of The New York Times article on the re-cut DVD version of ‘Factory Girl,’ the piece suggest the producers of the film were kind of shady and inept anyhow. Apparently the film is worth seeing for its very realistic nudie scenes of Miller and Christensen (scenes so apparently naturalistic, many thought they were real)
