First Listen: Fergie's 'Be Italian' From 'Nine;' Plus New Cotillard Image & Official Site Launch

So you’ve heard Fergie’s version, or some version anyhow, of “Be Italian,” in the trailer to Rob Marshall’s “Nine,” but now the entire version of the song has leaked which you can hear below.

The soundtrack features three new songs not in the original Broadway play — which itself is a musical riff on Federico Fellini’s influential touchstone, “8 1/2” — and hits shelves December 23. It seems the song was ripped in full from the official website which recently launched and features quotes from all the characters in the film. Here’s one example below of Daniel Day-Lewis’ Guido character, but because it’s not safe for eyes of any kind you might want to check out the version for Fergie where she looks like a male drag queen (yikes).

There’s a feature of “Nine,” in the latest issues of Empire, the most interesting part being an interview with Marion Cotillard who plays Daniel Day-Lewis’ wife Luisa Contini. The piece also notes that she has a big number in film she sings called, “My Husband Makes Movies,” and also reveals that one of the three songs especially penned for the film is another of hers called, “Take It All.”

She says of her role. “She’s a very internal character. But she really keeps things on the inside because she doesn’t really know how to deal with the fact that she’s been left aside. So she tries to protect [her husband]… she tries to not show much she’s suffering, but when you’ve suffered for a long time, it’s hard to keep it inside.”

“Nine,” will be released on Dec. 22 — just four days after its NY/LA opening and three days before the film’s wide release on Christmas Day.

The rest of The Playlist teams tends to nervously giggle when this writer says it, but “Nine,” is the most anticipated film left of 2009. It’s probably because some haven’t really come to terms with the the genius of the musical methinks. Hopefully Fergie doesn’t ruin the whole thing.
