Say what you will about fashion advertising but designer labels have deep pockets have never been afraid of spending it and employing top tier talent. The past year alone has seen Martin Scorsese, Frank Miller, David Lynch and Gia Coppola all dabbling in the fashion world with interesting results and this spring we can expect spots from Darren Aronofsky for Yves St. Laurent (with Vincent Cassel) and Sofia Coppola for Miss Dior Cherie (with Natalie Portman). And it won’t end there as another fashion house has teamed with a rising star and an acclaimed band to promote their latest line.
WWD reports that Elle Fanning will star in the short film “The Curve Of Forgotten Things” directed by photographer Todd Cole for Rodarte. Even better, acclaimed indie band Deerhunter will be providing the score though it’s unknown if it will be new work or previously released tunes.
“It’s inspired by Northern California, and the Seventies. It’s about this girl who exists in this strange place outside of time. She’s digging up things from the land and the past, and she offers them to the sun,” Cole said about the film. And the stills that have emerged certainly seem to indicate a dreamy, otherworldly vibe. We’re definitely intrigued.
The short will debut online on Tuesday at Nowness.com who also helped finance the production.
