Got a Tip?

First Look At The Cast Of ‘The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo’ & Hear A Portion Of Trent Reznor’s Score

It might be one of the most anticipated movies of the year, but we’re still relatively in the dark about David Fincher‘s version of “The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo.” There was that attention-grabbing poster of course, and a perfectly-edited teaser trailer, but there’s still a lot to come for the R-rated studio-funded version of a mystery tale that’s already proven a giant hit both in Stieg Larsson‘s original novels, and in the Swedish trilogy of films, which launched Noomi Rapace to international stardom.

But it looks like the curtain is starting to be lifted a little: we’re going to be checking out some footage from the film at the Empire Big Screen event this weekend in London (and finding out if Fincher’s biggest alleged gamble, getting the mostly British cast to use Swedish accents, has paid off), and now the film’s official site (via The Daily Blam) has gotten a bit of a facelift, displaying the first looks and biographies of no less than eighteen of the film’s characters.

The two leads, Daniel Craig‘s crusading journalist Mikael Blomkvist and Rooney Mara‘s sociopathic hacker Lisbeth Salander, should be familiar by now, but there are also glimpses of the supporting cast, which includes Christopher Plummer, Stellan Skarsgard, Robin Wright, Steven Berkoff, Yorick Von Wageningen, Goran Visnjic, Geraldine James and Joely Richardson. Check out the character bios below for the full low-down, particularly if you’re a newcomer to the series.

Or, if you go to the official site, you’ll get a little extra bonus while browsing, as it seems to be scored to a brief snippet of the film’s score, which sees Fincher reunite with “The Social Network” collaborators and Oscar-winners, Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, which to our ears is appropriately moody. Collider dug up an embed, so you can listen below. As for the film, we’ll be back on Saturday with our reaction to the footage, and the movie hits theaters on December 21st.
