Other than a poster that was spotted at Cannes and the controversy surrounding star Liam Neeson’s short hiatus after the tragic death of his partner Natasha Richardson, press had been relatively quiet surrounding Atom Egoyan’s “Chloe.”
Courtesy of the TIFF website (though pulled down since we’ve been there?), here is your better look at Egoyan’s “Chloe” which will premiere at this year’s festival.
The film is remake of French thriller “Nathalie” which starred Gérard Depardieu and was directed by “Coco Avant Chanel’s” Anna Fontaine. The Erin Cressida Wilson scribed, “Chloe,” has the following synopsis:
Catherine (Julianne Moore), a successful doctor, suspects her husband David (Liam Neeson), a handsome music professor, is cheating on her. To lay her suspicions and fears to rest, she hires an irresistible young woman, Chloe (Amanda Seyfried), to test David’s fidelity. Chloe’s torrid tales of her encounters with David lead Catherine on a journey of sexual and sensual re-discovery. But by opening the door to temptation, she puts her family in great danger.
Interestingly, rights to the American remake of “Nathalie” was acquired four years ago by none other than Ivan Reitman with the now Egoyan-helmed film produced by his son, Jason Reitman. It’s also great to see Seyfried getting taken somewhat seriously as an actress — this will one of her first adult roles. Mychael Danna, who co-scored “The Imaginarium Of Doctor Parnassus,” with his brother Jeff did the music for this one. [TIFF]
