First Look: Obama-Inspired Campaign Poster For George Clooney In ‘The Ides Of March’

Here is an early peak at the Barack Obama-inspired campaign posters for George Clooney‘s Governor Mike Morris in his latest directorial effort, the political drama, “The Ides Of March.”

The film boasts an A-grade cast which includes Ryan Gosling, Phillip Seymour Hoffman, Paul Giamatti, Marisa Tomei, Evan Rachel Wood, Jeffrey Wright and Max Minghella in the adaptation of Beau Willimon‘s critically acclaimed 2008 Broadway play “Farragut North.” The story is, in fact, loosely based on the 2004 Democratic primary campaign of Howard Dean and follows the exploits of a twenty-something presidential campaign spinmeister/wunderkind named Stephen Myers (Gosling) and the dirty pool he plays to get his candidate (Dean) the nomination against a rival senator.

The film will also see Giamatti play the aforementioned rival campaign manager, Tomei as a New York Times reporter, Wood as an intern for Myers’ campaign, with Minghella playing a recent college grad working on the campaign. This has all the makings of another gem and, for the most part, is already being eyed as a strong, potential award season contender — at least in our eyes and that of Sony anyway, with the studio setting an October 14th release will a fall fest premiere likely in the works. Last time Clooney pulled triple duties and wrote, starred and directed a film — “Good Night And Good Luck” — he scored Oscars noms for Best Director, Best Original Screenplay and Best Picture… just saying.
