Greta Gerwig is getting her directorial debut ready, and yes to the inevitable finicky commenters, she previously co-directed “Nights And Weekends” with Joe Swanberg. But “Lady Bird” marks her first truly solo venture, and it’s one we’re certainly anticipating.
Saoirse Ronan, Laurie Metcalf, Tracy Letts, Lucas Hedges, Timothee Chalamet and Beanie Feldstein star in the movie about a teenager from Sacramento who prepares to head off to college in New York City. It sounds right in the low-key, intimate vein of the pictures Gerwig made with Noah Baumbach — “Frances Ha” and “Mistress America” — and it’ll be interesting to see how her storytelling voice continues to evolve.

“Lady Bird” is currently slated to play both TIFF and NYFF, and you can probably bet that it’ll stop in at Telluride too. The film opens on November 10th.
