Twenty-somethings may not remember, but in 2003, the literary sensation that swept the globe was Dan Brown‘s "The Da Vinci Code." It’s a bit astonishing that the poorly written, fairly ludicrous thriller become such a phenomenon, but as these things go, a movie franchise was launched. Tom Hanks took the lead role of Robert Langdon in the Ron Howard-directed movie, and in the not-so-well-received follow-up, "Angels & Demons." Now, six years later, Langdon is back on the case in "Inferno," and Hanks and Howard are along for the ride once again.
Felicity Jones, Sidse Babett Knudsen ("Borgen," "The Duke Of Burgundy"), Omar Sy, Irrfan Khan, and Ben Foster are part of the ensemble this time around, in a movie that features another high concept plot. Here’s the synopsis: Robert Langdon wakes up in an Italian hospital with amnesia, he teams up with Sienna Brooks, a doctor he hopes will help him recover his memories and prevent a madman from releasing a global plague connected to Dante’s “Inferno.”
