Last month we told you about the Will Ferrell and Adam McKay-produced “He’s Fucking Perfect” script that found a home at 20th Century Fox’s sibling label Fox 2000. It’s a spec from Ferrell and McKay’s Gary Sanchez production label that was written by McKay’s former personal assistant of several years Lauryn Kahn, and had current “it” girl Emma Stone circling the lead.
Well it looks as if Fox 2000 is set to keep things in the Gary Sanchez family as director Jake Szymanski, who’s written and directed several comedy shorts for Ferrell and McKay’s Funny or Die website, is currently in talks with the studio to helm what Deadline says is a “priority project.”
Following a media-savvy girl in the modern age, “He’s Fucking Perfect” taps into the current trends for both social networking and technophobia as the girl, who’s been known to deconstruct her friends' relationships to search for flaws, somehow finds the man of her dreams. Once she does, she uses her extensive internet skills to become his perfect match. Sounds a little discomfiting, but we’re sure this could turn out to be an interesting project, and it sounds like something Stone would have worked well with. As for Stone, however, whose interest in the project Deadline cites as putting it on the map, it seems she's moved on, though studio insiders are still quite optimistic that she'll star in the movie anyway. It's the kind of territory she's done before so we can both see why Fox 2000 wants her and maybe why she might not want to do it, seeking something a bit different instead.
Expect to hear more about this one soon, especially if Stone becomes officially attached. As for Szymanski, at the very least we can rest easy knowing he provided us with a peek at Marion Cotillard’s “Forhead Tittaes.”
