Fresh off its debut at the Toronto International Film Festival last year, and following more fest appearances where it has been blowing critics away, “The Levelling,” led by “Game of Thrones” star Ellie Kendrick, has received its first official trailer. And it’s a picture we loved, with The Playlist’s own Oliver Lyttelton describing it as a “remarkable directorial debut.”
Taking place in Somerset, England, the movie follows Clover Catto (Kendrick) who receives a call telling her that her younger brother Charlie (Joe Blakemore) is dead. Returning to her family farm she must face the man she hasn’t spoken to in years: her father Aubrey (David Troughton). Shocked to discover her home has changed forever following the devastating floods just six months earlier, Aubrey learns what has been going on in her long absence. Turning to her father to forge a new understanding, Clover attempts to uncover what drove her brother to taking his own life.
“The Levelling” will open in limited release later this year.
