'Glee' Star Dianna Agron Joins Luc Besson's 'Malavita'

nullPlaying Quinn Fabray on Fox's hit musical/high school show "Glee" hasn't given Dianna Agron a lot of chances to break out into movie roles, but it looks like she's signing on to a project that will be a far, far cry from the antics at William McKinley High School in Lima, Ohio.

Agron has signed up for Luc Besson's "Malavita," which will see the rising actress starring opposite seasoned and legendary veterans like Robert De Niro, Michelle Pfeiffer and Tommy Lee Jones. Based on the Tonino Benacquista novel “Badfellas,” the story centers on a long-married couple (De Niro/Pfeiffer) with Mafia ties who are relocated to France through the witness protection program in an effort to hide their past – yet they still find a way to get back into “the business.” Agron will play the daughter of De Niro and Pfeiffer, and that's about all we know. In his own films at least, Besson tends to go a bit beyond the usual, writing smart roles for the women in his flicks. That said, you never really know, and Agron's character could just end up whining about being in France or being snatched up "Taken"-style with De Niro and Pfeiffer forced to use their special set of skills.

If you're worried about this project interfering with Quinn and her duties on "Glee," don't sweat it. "Malavita" will shoot next month, leaving Agron plenty of time to tune up for a return to her hit show, which premieres on Fox on September 13th. [THR]
