But stateside buzz for “Godzilla Minus One” started last month when Takashi Yamazaki‘s film closed the Tokyo International Film Festival. And the new final trailer for the film previews what advance reviews already foretold: that this rendition of Godzilla may be one of the most brutal, devastating, and destructive kaiju ever to hit the big screen. So, fans of Toho’s franchise, take notice: this one may be one of the last special treats to hit cinemas before 2023 draws to a close.

“Godzilla Minus One” follows a familiar premise: Godzilla shows up in post-war Japan, with the country helpless against the trail of destruction the kaiju leaves in his wake. And Yamazaki’s Godzilla looks especially cataclysmic here, so expect a film replete with riveting VFX and action sequences.
