'Good Grief': Ruth Negga & Himesh Patel Co-Star In Daniel Levy's Directorial Debut Coming To Netflix

When two people get married, they really do become one entity. It’s not even in a spiritual way, either. Two married people experience things together, they love together, they maybe raise kids together. Everything is as a pair. So, what happens when one of them unexpectedly passes away? That devastation is explored in the new film, “Good Grief.”

As seen in the trailer for “Good Grief,” the film follows the story of a man who has to figure out how to pick up the pieces when his husband dies. This despair sends the man, as well as his two best friends, on a soul-searching trip to Paris. And as you might expect from this sort of film, while in Paris, the trio experience all sorts of personal growth. 

The film stars Daniel Levy, Ruth Negga, Himesh Patel, Celia Imrie, David Bradley, Arnaud Valois, Emma Corrin, Kaitlyn Dever, and Luke Evans. In addition to starring in the film, Levy also wrote and directed the film. 

“Good Grief” debuts in select theaters on December 29 before hitting Netflix on January 5, 2024. You can watch the trailer below.

Here’s the synopsis:

Marc (Daniel Levy) was content living in the shadow of his larger-than-life husband, Oliver (Luke Evans). But when Oliver unexpectedly dies, Marc’s world shatters, sending him and his two best friends, Sophie (Ruth Negga) and Thomas (Himesh Patel), on a soul-searching trip to Paris that reveals some hard truths they each needed to face. Good Grief marks Levy’s debut as a feature-film writer and director. He also produced as part of Not a Real Production Company, alongside Sister Pictures.
