Normally, when Gerard Butler stars in an action film, the story follows him as a guy attempting to save the world. In “Greenland,” the world is good and screwed, leaving Butler with only one job, save his family.
The film follows Butler as a father that will do whatever it takes to get his family to safety after the government downplays the effects of comet fragments that are entering the Earth’s atmosphere. What they thought would be nothing more than a cool thing to watch unfold on TV turns into an extinction-level event pretty fast, forcing families to run for safety. And apparently, the only chance at survival is a bunker in, you guessed it, Greenland.
Joining Gerard Butler in the film are Morena Baccarin, Roger Dale Floyd, Scott Glenn, David Denman, Hope Davis, Andrew Bachelor, and Joshua Mikel. The film is directed by Ric Roman Waugh, who is probably best known for his films “Shot Caller” and “Angel has Fallen.” The latter of which found the director teaming with Butler. So, yeah, you know what you’re getting yourself into with “Greenland.”
“Greenland” is arriving in theaters on August 14.
