Nearly 30 years after the original debuted, Adam Sander returns as the unlikely hockey player turned golf pro in “Happy Gilmore 2.” Netflix, who has been in business with Sandler for many years now, producing films like “The Ridiculous Six,” “Murder Mystery” and “You Are So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah,” among many others, will premiere the film sometime in 2025. Over Christmas, Sandler’s revealed the first teaser trailer on Instagram.

The comedy also features Julie Bowen, Christopher McDonald, Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio (aka Bad Bunny), Allen Covert, Dennis Dugan Ben Stiller, Maxwell Jacob Friedman, Scott Mescudi, Margaret Qualley, Benny Safdie and Nick Swardson.
Many golf pros appear in the film and other confirmed cameos include rapper Eminem, football player Travis Kelce, and talk show host Dan Patrick.

No story or plot details are known yet, but some kind of rematch between Happy and Christopher McDonald’s Shooter McGavin antagonist is surely at its center.
“Happy Gilmore 2” is directed by Kyle Newacheck, who already helmed Sandler and Jennifer Aniston in Netflix’s “Murder Mystery,” is The sequel is co-written by Tim Herlihy from the original movie and Dennis Dugan, the director of the original film, will executive produce, with Jack Giarraputo and Robert Simonds producing.
“Happy Gilmore 2” has no release date yet, but presumably Netflix is saving it for the spring or summer.
