Inspired by the classic theme park attraction is not necessarily what you want to hear when you’re hearing about a new movie, but the reality is they seemingly made a killer movie about “Barbie,” and “LEGO” and even the “Pirates Of The Caribbean” franchise was based on a theme park attraction so inspiration can strike in many forms and sometimes, our cynicism towards certain films isn’t warranted. That’s our pitch for “Haunted Mansion,” a movie we haven’t seen, but a) see above and b) see the talented director involved, Justin Simien (“Dear White People”), and the all-star cast ensemble cast it features.

A new trailer for Disney’s frighteningly fun adventure “Haunted Mansion” is available now. The film opens in theaters on July 28.
Directed by the aforementioned Simien, known for a lot of great indie films and the “Dear White People” series on Netflix, the “Haunted Mansion film features an impressive cast including LaKeith Stanfield, Tiffany Haddish, Owen Wilson, Danny DeVito, Rosario Dawson, Chase W. Dillon, and Daniel Levy, with Jamie Lee Curtis and Jared Leto as The Hatbox Ghost.
Simien’s also known for horror, the 2020 film “Bad Hair,” so he definitely won’t be out of his element here even if this new Disney movie is obviously not as scary and more family-friendly (hey, we all contain multitudes, right?)

Inspired by the classic theme park attraction, “Haunted Mansion” is about a woman and her son who enlist a motley crew of so-called spiritual experts to help rid their home of supernatural squatters. The film’s producers are Dan Lin and Jonathan Eirich, with Nick Reynolds and Tom Peitzman serving as executive producers.
