Next to Pirates of the Caribbean, Disney World’s The Haunted Mansion is one of the Magic Kingdom’s most essential rides. And Disney retrofitted both rides into films in the early 2000s, to great success with “Pirates Of The Caribbean: The Curse Of The Black Pearl” …and not-so-great success with “The Haunted Mansion.” Now Disney tries again with “Haunted Mansion,” a new take on their beloved theme park attraction.

The 2023 version of the ride-turned-film stars Rosario Dawson as a single mom who hires a tour guide, a psychic, a priest, and a historian to rid her newly bought New Orleans mansion of its overwhelming ghost problem.
And “Haunted Mansion” boasts a massive ensemble cast to play its myriad characters and ghosts. The film also stars LaKeith Stanfield, Owen Wilson, Tiffany Haddish, Danny DeVito, Jame Lee Curtis, Jared Leto, Winona Ryder, Dan Levy, and Hasan Minhaj. Child actor Chase Dillon plays Dawson’s son.
“Dear White People” creator Justin Simen directs “Haunted Mansion.” Kate Dippold pens the film’s script.
So how will audiences receive Disney’s latest cinematic take on their legendary ride? Some may still wish Guillermo del Toro‘s attempted reboot from the early 2010s didn’t fail, but Simien’s take may not be so bad. Audiences must wait until July 28 for “Haunted Mansion” to hit theaters, though. Watch a trailer for the film below.
