Thanks to “Priscilla,” “Saltburn,” and “The Sweet East,” “Euphoria” breakout Jacob Elordi is now a bona fide Hollywood star. But before those movies ruled the festival circuits this year, Elordi had another film on the way that was postponed due to the untimely death of its director. Now “He Went That Way” hits select theaters and on-demand to start 2024, which sees Elordi in an unnerving role in a similar vein to his “Euphoria” character Nate Jacobs.

Based on Conrad Hilberry‘s true-crime book “Luke Karamazov,” “He Went That Way” sees Zachary Quinto‘s celebrity animal handler pick up Elordi’s young drifter, who just so happens to be in the midst of a killing spree.
Here’s an official synopsis for “He Went That Way,” courtesy of Vertical:
Set in 1964, He Went That Way is a taut thriller based on a true crime story that puts a wicked spin on the buddy road trip film. The film follows 19-year-old serial killer Bobby (Jacob Elordi) as he is picked up by a celebrity animal handler, Jim (Zachary Quinto), on a desolate stretch of Route 66 with priceless cargo in tow: Jim’s chimpanzee, Spanky, an American TV darling. As stress between Bobby and Jim rises and their fiery personalities combust, the road only becomes more treacherous the farther they go.
Along with Elordi and Quinto, the film also stars Patrick J. Adams, Troy Evans, Alexandra Doke, and John Lee Ames.
“He Went That Way” is the feature directorial debut of Jeffrey Darling, who tragically passed away in 2022 in a surfing accident. Evan M. Wiener adapts Hilberry’s book for the big screen. Producers for the film include Marc Benardout, Hugh Broder, Jeremy L. Kotin, James Harris, and Mark Lane.
“He Went That Way” hits select theaters on January 5 before it’s available on-demand on January 12. Watch a trailer for the film below.
