Cults are perhaps one of the more common documentary series topics, and there have been some fairly peculiar ones examined in recent years. “Heaven’s Gate: The Cult of Cults,” might examine one of the strangest cults to date.

The documentary series follows what was considered to be the biggest cult story in the country at the time. The cult brainwashed people into believing they could transform themselves into a next-level alien. You would then board a spaceship that was supposed to take you to heaven.

“Heaven’s Gate: The Cult of Cults” sheds light on the background of the cult, while offering sympathy to those people who were sucked in. In order to do this, the docuseries leverages never-before-seen footage and first-person accounts. The idea is to help the audience understand the mindset of a person who would join a group that ended with US soil’s largest suicide.
