Is there any duo on a television drama right now as electrifying and compelling as Walter White (Bryan Cranston) and Jesse Pinkman (Aaron Paul)? With "Breaking Bad" heading into the first half of its final, fifth season — with the first episode to premiere to at Comic-Con on Saturday — what the future holds for both of them is anybody's guess. But it's going to be hella entertaining to find out. And duh, there are spoilers below.
AMC has dropped a new, three minute, behind-the-scenes preview of the upcoming season mixing in bits and pieces of new footage, alongside interviews with the cast and show's creator Vince Gilligan. And the one overriding sentiment is that Heisenberg is back on top, and with Walter no longer fearing for his life, he's going to follow that thread where it takes him. "What is a world like where he is not at death's door at every turn," Gilligan wonders. "But is in fact ascendant and triumphant. That's what you're gonna see in Season 5."
But on his tail will be a newly invigorated Hank, played by Dean Norris, who enthuses his character was right all along about the newly dead Gus Fring and his Los Pollos Hermanos being a front for his drug trade. And he won't be stopping, looking to finally track down the mysterious Heisenberg and bring him to justice. There will be a lot at play and at stake in the show's final sixteen episodes, the first eight which air in 2012 with the rest in 2013. "Breaking Bad" kicks off this Sunday at 10 PM on AMC.
