'His Three Daughters': Carrie Coon And Elizabeth Olsen Praise Azazel Jacobs' Screenplay

A deluge of new films has arrived after the quartet of major fall film festivals, but a TIFF 2023 debut is still one of the most critically acclaimed films of the year (based on its release date, at least). Azazel Jacob’s “His Three Daughters” currently sits with a stellar 84 on Metacritic based on 37 reviews and an impressive 97% on Rotten Tomatoes after 140 reviews. The film’s three leads, Natasha Lyonne, Carrie Coon, and Elizabeth Olsen, are all vying for a competitive Supporting Actress Oscar nomination, but their director may find himself in the Original Screenplay race.

Realizing it’s never too early to get in the ear of the Writers’ Branch (or WGA members), Netflix has released a featurette with the cast speaking about the inherent intimacy of Jacobs’ screenplay, which was hand-delivered to them before they each signed on. You can watch the video embedded in this post.

To learn more about Coon’s thoughts on working with Jacobs and how humble she is about her performance, check out our interview. “His Three Daughters” is now available on Netflix worldwide. If you are an AMPAS, DGA, WGA, or SAG member we suggest you make viewing it a priority.
