‘History Of The World, Part II’ Trailer: Jason Alexander, Fred Armisen, Michaela Watkins & More Added To Mel Brooks’ Belated All-Star Sequel

It’s pretty simple to wrap your head around. Comedy legend Mel Brooks, now 96 years old and still trucking along like there’s nothing to stop him, made the “History of the World, Part I” comedy in 1981; it was a hit, a comedy classic, and eventually, he promised a sequel. Now, 42 years after the fact, Brooks has returned with “History of the World, Part II,” now a four-night series event for Hulu.

What’s it about? Well, after waiting over 40 years, there is finally a sequel to the seminal Mel Brooks film, “History of the World, Part I,” with each episode featuring a variety of sketches that take us through different periods of human history. 

The series stars Mel Brooks, Wanda Sykes, Nick Kroll, and Ike Barinholtz, but the cast of comedy all-stars that make appearances is massive, with appearances by folks like Seth Rogen, Taika Waititi, Zazie Beetz, and more.

In fact, Hulu just revealed thirty-something new names to the cast featuring Jason Alexander, Fred Armisen, and Michaela Watkins. The full announcement includes (deep breath) James Adomian, Jason Alexander, Fred Armisen, Tim Bagley, Dan Bakkedahl, Travis Bennett, Sarayu Blue, Craig Cackowski, Arturo Castro, Parvesh Cheena, Margaret Cho, Andy Cohen, Andy Daly, Colton Dunn, Ayo Edebiri, Ana Fabrega, Marla Gibbs, Blake Griffin, Mitra Jouhari, Preston Lacy, Robby Hoffman, Anna Maria Horsford, Brian Huskey, Mousa Hussein Kraish, Bobby Lee, Mena Massoud, Wendi McLendon-Covey, Crystal Kung Minkoff, Finesse Mitchell, Natalie Morales, Pam Oliver, Ana Ortiz, Adam Pally, Lennon Parham, Chris Pontius, Rob Riggle, Matt Rogers, Paul Rust, Paul Scheer, Andrew Secunda, Jessica St. Clair, Carl Tart, Drew Tarver, Christopher Thornton, James Urbaniak, George Wallace, Michaela Watkins, Wee Man, Kym Whitley, and Casey Wilson.

Mel Brooks is a writer and executive producer on the series along with Nick Kroll, Wanda Sykes, Ike Barinholtz, and David Stassen. Kevin Salter and Christie Smith are executive producers. Alice Mathias, David Stassen, Nick Kroll, and Lance Bangs directed the 8-episode season. “History of the World, Part II” is a production of Searchlight Television and 20th Television.

“History of the World, Part II” premieres Monday, March 6, with two episodes.  Two new episodes will drop daily, with the finale on Thursday, March 9. Watch the new trailer below.
