More lists are arriving as 2013 draws to a close and if you’re wondering what movies you need to catch in cinemas, or keep an eye out for at the arthouse, they are always a handy guide. Now, Film Comments is stepping into both arenas with their definitive take on the year that was.
The results of the organization’s annual end-of-the-year survey of over 120 film critics, journalists, film section editors, and past and present contributors were dropped this afternoon, with the Coen Brothers‘ charming and bruised “Inside Llewyn Davis” topping the list. It’s a mix of the familiar (“12 Years A Slave,” “Before Midnight“) with the undersung (“Frances Ha,” “Upstream Color“) on a list that is dips into films both at home and abroad.
