Patrick Wilson returns as Josh Lambert. And more than a mere continuation of the role, the film additionally represents Wilson’s first directorial effort. The actor comes to the project leading two popular horror franchises. He also stars as Ed Warren in “The Conjuring” franchise — itself a proven force at the box office.
The film’s screenwriter, Scott Teems, most recently worked on “Firestarter” and “Halloween Kills.” Each project gave Teems the chance to work on well-known horror properties, something he’ll do yet again with “The Red Door.” Teems stays in Blumhouse‘s orbit for this next project, too, providing the story for David Gordon Green‘s upcoming “The Exorcist” reboot.
