Today, Vulture confirmed that Aaron Sorkin, creator of “The West Wing” and writer of “Charlie Wilson’s War,” will be writing a feature film centered around how the social-networking internet sensation, Facebook, came to be.
Sorkin himself, or someone appointed by the walk-and-talk writer, created a group on the popular site called “Aaron Sorkin & The Facebook Movie.” In the description for the group he even talks about how many people have made their own profiles using his name, so he had to go on there and clear things up.
Facebook Sorkin did post pictures of himself playing tennis and is answering personal questions about his life and work, so it seems to be the real Sorkin [ed. and Vulture confirmed it].
What’s interesting is that the bulk of Facebook users (high school and college students) aren’t interested in Sorkin’s work. He may write some sharp dialogue, but he writes too god damn much of it. Good luck Sorky, because you aren’t going to have an audience. People may love Facebook, but in the words of Patton Oswalt, “Do you like Angelina Jolie?… Well here’s Jon Voight’s ball sack!”
