No, our caps lock isn’t broken, that’s really the way the title of “LASt VEGAS” is spelled on the cover of the script that made it into Jack Nicholson’s hands yesterday.
Vulture is reporting that the script by Dan Fogelman (“Cars,” “Fred Claus,” the untitled Steve Carell/Ryan Gosling/Emma Stone comedy) “follows four estranged male childhood friends from the fifties who reunite in Vegas to finally marry off Billy, the lifelong unmarried playboy of the group, who — fittingly — might be played by Nicholson.” So yeah, we’re guessing it’s some kind of unholy “The Hangover” meets “Grumpy Old Men” meets “The Bucket List” hybrid. Hijinks and old man feelings are sure to ensue.
The project is currently set up at the fledgling CBS Films who could stand to use a hit after “Extraordinary Measures” failed and the “The Back-Up Plan” (which apparently leaked online) is looking to do tepid numbers when it opens this weekend.
I dunno, another comedy that plays on Jack Nicholson being old? Meh. We prefer the edgier Jack, but audiences think otherwise. Any suggestions for the other old dudes in the bunch?
