Jackie Earle Haley, the actor best known in Academy circles for his comeback role in 2006's "Little Children," and in genre cliques for playing Freddie Kruger in the rebooted "Nightmare On Elm Streetseries and appearing as Rorschach in "Watchmen," has just bagged a new role. The 51-year-old actor, who found success as a child in the '70s with "The Bad News Bears" series and 1979's acclaimed coming-of-age movie "Breaking Away," has joined the cast of yet another reboot: "RoboCop." Haley will portray Maddox, a man who dispenses the military training to Robocop.

Directed by José Padilha (the Brazilian "Elite Squad" franchise), this newest iteration of the "RoboCop" series will feature Joel Kinnaman (AMC's "The Killing") in the title role. Gary Oldman, Abbie Cornish, Samuel L. Jackson and Hugh Laurie will all co-star in supporting roles. Jay Baruchel, perhaps best know for his supporting roles in several Judd Apatow comedies, is also evidently circling a role in the picture. "RoboCop" is set to land in theaters August 9, 2013.

Next up for Haley is a role in Steven Spielberg's "Lincoln," which lands in theaters in November.
