Pain Won’t Hurt Jake Gyllenhaal In A New ‘Road House’ Film From Doug Liman

The Double Duece is returning! And we apparently have Doug Liman and Jake Gyllenhaal to thank for making this glorious reality coming true, as both men are seemingly getting ready to make a new “Road House” film.

According to Deadline, Doug Liman is in talks to direct a new “Road House” film with Jake Gyllenhaal in talks to star. It’s unclear if the film will be a sequel, remake, or reboot of the original “Road House,” which stars Patrick Swayze as the iconic “Pain don’t hurt” Dalton, a leader of the security team at a rowdy country bar in the middle of nowhere. Dalton is typically hired to come into a bar, figure out its problematic elements, and dispose of them (sometimes by ripping out a throat, if necessary).

If the two men sign to make the film, it will mark the first time the blockbuster filmmaker and the A-list actor have collaborated. Liman is probably best known for helming films such as “Edge of Tomorrow,” “The Bourne Identity,” and “Mr. and Mrs. Smith.” He’s also attached to a number of upcoming projects including “Everest,” a new space film with Tom Cruise, and the perpetually in development “Edge of Tomorrow” sequel.

Gyllenhaal recently appeared in “The Guilty,” but has a number of other projects in the works, as well. He’s almost certainly going to show up in “Spider-Man: No Way Home,” and has signed on for “The Division,” “Prophet,” and a new Guy Ritchie film. His next feature (if he doesn’t show up in ‘No Way Home,’ that is) will be “Ambulance,” which comes from filmmaker Michael Bay

That said, a new “Road House” film is easily more exciting than any of those other projects and should be the most anticipated film on the lists of anyone with common sense and reverence for the original.
