James Franco May Play Tommy Wiseau In Movie About The Making Of 'The Room'

The Disaster Artist James Franco

Earlier this year, it was announced that James Franco would be directing a feature adaptation of the memoir, “The Disaster Artist: My Life Inside The Room,” with Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg producing. Penned by actor Greg Sestero, it’s an inside look at the making of Tommy Wiseau‘s cult abomination, “The Room,” and the idea of Franco—no stranger to ambitious projects that perhaps don’t always live up to expectation—taking it on was pretty inspired. But it seems, in typical James Franco fashion, he might take it one step further.

Rogen recently stopped by “The Opie & Anthony Show” and chatted a little bit about “The Room” and the gestating project. Most of the talk is about Wiseau’s movie itself and how terrible it is, but right at the end, he reveals that Franco “might play Tommy Wiseau.” Wowers. As anyone who has seen Wiseau in person or introducing a screening of his film can attest, he’s certainly a personality—Rogen says he gives off a “vampire-y vibe”—and Franco doing the heavy lifting of directing and playing the title role seems to make perfect sense.

We’re presuming this is still in development, but let’s hope it isn’t too long before we see this crazy concoction come together. Check out Rogen’s talk about the project below.
