Got a Tip?

James Franco’s ‘Child Of God’ Will Hit Film Festivals This Year, Aiming For 2013 Release

nullAs you know, James Franco is currently in the midst of shooting "Child of God," an adaptation of Cormac McCarthy's grim novel about about a violent man living on the edges of society, and dabbling in all kinds of unsavory activities (necrophilia, pedophilia among them). And while at any given moment Franco has about fifteen hundred things going on, you don't have to worry that this one might be neglected, because it seems it's going to make its debut sooner than we thought.

The film is currently shooting in West Virginia and The Pocahontas Times recently got some time with the filmmakers, who shared their plans for the movie. "We'll hit film festivals in six to eight months and then it'll be out in theaters next year," said producer Vince Jolivette. No word on if any deals have been struck with distributors yet (doubtful, since most will want to see what they're dealing with first) but fingers crossed as it seems this could be headed to Toronto or Venice to unspool in the fall.

While Tim Blake Nelson has been reported to be taking a role, We Got This Covered has done some digging and revealed that Scott Haze has the lead role of Lester Ballard with Jim Parrack (Hoyt from "True Blood") on board as Deputy Cotton. The former has even dropped a teaser video of sorts for the film, which is certainly…explosive.

Finally, lest you think Franco has abandoned his multi-tasking ways, he's also currently putting together another feature-length film for designer jeans label 7 For All Mankind. AdRants reveals that Franco has been hired to lens the campaign for the company, which will culminate in a movie set for release in May. Henry Hopper ("Restless") will be among the faces glimpsed, and you can get a taste of what's to come with the behind-the-scenes look below.
