Of the many ingredients that currently make up the current blockbuster soup, the post-credits scene might the one that’s biggest acquired taste. Elaborate winks that don’t add much to the narrative except to pay service to fanboys, it’s a tradition that has gone from something cheeky and surprising, to a tedious ritual. And it’s not just Marvel playing this game, with even Paramount‘s "Terminator Genisys" getting into the "fun" earlier this year. However, Jamie Bell may have news that will hearten those tired of sticking in their seconds for twenty more seconds of footage.
Asked by MTV at Comic-Con about a post-credits scene in "Fantastic Four," Bell made it clear you can get up and leave. “No we don’t have a post-credits scene,” Bell said. “It does leave the door wide open for a lot of different movies. I think this movie really focuses on the origins of each character individually – how they get their powers, how they learn to deal with them, how they learn to harness them. That’s kind of where the movie ends. But then there’s so much more to go on from there – it really leaves the door open.”
In other words, the set up here is for more "Fantastic Four" films (duh), and not getting ahead of themselves by trying to connect to the X-Men universe, even an eventual team up movie is already being rumored. But Josh Trank‘s flick will have to be a success first, and we’ll see how that plays out on August 7th.
