Jason Segel's 'Muppet' Movie Gets A Christmas 2011 Release Date

There’s a good reason why “Get Him To The Greek” director Nicholas Stoller has been doing a lot of talking about “The Greatest Muppet Movie of All Time,” the new upcoming Muppets movie he co-wrote with Jason Segel that’s being directed by James Bobin (dir. “Flight of the Conchords”).

The film now has a release date. Tentatively titled “The Muppets,” the film, starring Segel, has been scheduled for a December 25, 2011 date by Buena Vista/Disney.

The picture will potentially be a cameo-heavy affair as one draft of the script we read contained brief appearances by the likes of George Clooney, Alec Baldwin, Sean Penn, Chris Rock, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, Mel Brooks, Matt Damon, Norah Jones, Sarah Jessica Parker and Ben Stiller. Obviously, things don’t always turn out as planned so don’t be surprised when only half of these actors eventually turn up.

Last we heard, production was supposed to begin this summer.
