Javier Bardem Joins ‘Eat, Pray, Love,’ ‘Brokeback’ Pair Reunite For ‘Love And Other Drugs’

Javier Bardem is in talks to star alongside Julia Roberts and Richard Jenkins in Ryan Murphy’s “Eat, Pray, Love.” The film, which is an adaptation Elizabeth Gilbert’s memoirs, follows the story of a married woman who embarks on a journey of self-discovery after trying to get pregnant and realizing she’s not living the life she wants. Bardem is set to play Felipe, the man Gilbert (Roberts) meets and falls in love with on the final leg of a journey of self-discovery. Murphy is known for the film “Running with Scissors” and his writer/director/creator work on the TV series “Nip/Tuck.”[Variety]

Breno Silveira’s “Once Upon A Time In Rio” has been picked up for U.S. distribution by Maya Entertainment. The film is set in Rio de Janeiro and follows a love story between a rich girl and a hot dog vendor from the slums. [Variety]

A trailer for “Zombieland” is rumored to be released sometime next week. The film is directed by Ruben Fleischer and stars Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg and Emma Stone. [ShockTillYouDrop]

As we previously touched on, Jake Gyllenhaal and Anne Hathaway are set to reunite (they starred together in “Brokeback Mountain”) in Edward Zwick’s “Love And Other Drugs.” The films follows the story of a salesman who begins a relationship with a woman who has Parkinson’s (Hathaway) while on one of his sales calls. Their love story plays out in the 1990s political and social context of the time. [THR]

Neil Patrick Harris is set to star in Josh Shelov’s “The Best And The Brightest,” a film that revolves around a couple from Delaware who move to New York’s Upper East Side and enter the world of the city’s private kindergartens. Bonnie Somerville, Amy Sedaris, John Hodgman, Peter Serafinowicz, Bridget Regan, Kate Mulgrew and Christopher McDonald are also on board. [THR]
