Jeff Bridges To Record Album With 'Crazy Heart' Collaborators Ryan Bingham & T. Bone Burnett

Looks like Jeff Bridges will be returning to the country music scene sooner rather than later after his Oscar-winning role as ‘Bad’ Blake in Scott Cooper‘s “Crazy Heart.”

The actor is set to team with “Crazy Heart” collaborators, country music prodigy Ryan Bingham and veteran T. Bone Burnett on a full-length LP with writing assistance from Bingham and production from Burnett. The album is set to be recorded through a deal with EMI and Blue Note Records, who originally specialized in jazz music but have now expanded to a wider range of genres.

Little other information is known of the upcoming musical collaboration but after their successes during the last award season taking home Best Original Song at the Golden Globes and the Oscars, Best Actor at the Oscars and earning a nod for Maggie Gyllenhaal in the Best Supporting Actress category, any potential release will come with a certain level of hype. Bingham just put out a new record called Junky Star via Lost Highway Records while Burnett has been producing and collaborating with the likes of Bingham, John Mellencamp, Willie Nelson, Jakob Dylan and Elvis Costello.

Meanwhile, director Scott Cooper has been tossing up between a few projects with which to follow up “Crazy Heart,” including the likes of a silver screen adaptation of Bob Dylan‘s “Brownsville Girl” with Brad Pitt, a period-drama based on the iconic story ofThe Hatfields And The McCoys” with Pitt again and Robert Duvall as well as an adaptation of William Styron‘s “Lie Down In Darkness” with Jennifer Lawrence reportedly gunning for the lead role.
