Jesse Eisenberg Will Play A Sasquatch In A New Film From The Zellner Brothers

Jesse Eisenberg has been very particular with his choices as an actor in recent years. He always mixes bigger roles in high-profile films with appearances in quality indies. Sure, he’ll do a “Zombieland” sequel, but he’s going to follow it up with something like “The Art of Self-Defense.” But even though he’s been known to mix it up over the years, his next role is a real departure for the performer, as he’s asked to play a Sasquatch. Yes, you read that correctly.

According to a recent interview with Variety, Jesse Eisenberg revealed that the next film he’s working on is with the Zellner Brothers, in which he’ll put on full makeup to play the mythical Big Foot. Not a quippy Big Foot. A grunting, full fur Sasquatch.

“The next movie I’m doing is with the Zellner Brothers. They’re brilliant directors I’ve been wanting to work with for a long time,” said Eisenberg. “And I’m playing a Sasquatch: full makeup, full body hair, no lines. I grunt, but no lines. I’m so looking forward to this.”

For those not familiar with the work of David and Nathan Zellner, the filmmakers are probably best known for their films “Kumiko, The Treasure Hunter” and “Kid-Thing.” Most recently, they released the 2018 film, “Damsel,” which stars Robert Pattinson and Mia Wasikowska

Back in 2020, it was announced that the Zellners were going to write and direct a sci-fi action-comedy film titled “Alpha Gang,” with an all-star cast that includes Jon Hamm, Sofia Boutella, Steven Yeun, Mackenzie Davis, and Nicholas Hoult. It’s unclear if Eisenberg is referencing a role in that film or something unannounced.

Interestingly, years ago, the duo worked on a short film titled “Sasquatch Birth Journal 2.” Perhaps they’re looking to expand on the 5-minute short for a feature now? Regardless, Eisenberg as a Sasquatch is too good to pass up. So, we’re excited either way.
