Speaking with MTV, Jessica Alba has discussed Robert Rodriguez and Ethan Maniquis’ upcoming “Machete” and her participation in the project. Did we never realize this tidbit about her character before?
“I play identical twins. One’s bad and one’s good,” Alba reveals. “There’s a ton of action in it. My character does a bit. I got to do some action finally again.”
“Grindhouse” was notorious for its wild, balls-out violence and sex and, if there was any doubt, it sure sounds like Rodriguez has left his ‘Spy Kid’ shoes at home. Alba adds that her character participates in “an on-screen bathtub pleasure session” as well as taking part in some of the “knife-wielding, bomb-exploding, blood-spewing action sequences.”
The actress also goes on to describe the film as, “badass,” “fierce” and “Robert Rodriguez, old school at its best,” comparative to his past efforts like “Desperado,” “From Dusk Till Dawn” and “El Mariachi.”
Alba also threw in a hilarious anecdote about her “Machete” co-star Steven Seagal. After she “kind of called him an actor,” the cult actor reportedly “kind of got mad at me and corrected me and said he was an officer of the law. And I said ‘I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to offend you.” But he was really sweet about letting me know it was okay that I offended him.”
“He’s a killer,” Alba concluded. “He’s pretty badass, and he does an amazing fight in the movie.”
“Machete” is basically done its post-production with a release due later this year through Fox —the studio bought it out last month after the cash-strapped Weinstein Company passed on their first-look deal.
