Got a Tip?

Jessica Lange Replaces Glenn Close In ‘Therese Raquin’ With Elizabeth Olsen & Oscar Isaac

As a couple readers pointed out, Deadline has this in their report last week when Oscar Isaac joinedTherese Raquin” but we weren’t sure if it was an error or official at the time. But it seems it is and while the film is losing one great veteran, it’s gaining another actress who has experiencing a recent surge of popularity.

EW reports that Glenn Close is out and Jessica Lange is in, for “Therese Raquin.” Based on the novel by Emilie Zola, and set to be directed by Charlie Stratton, the story follows Therese (Olsen), a young woman trapped in a loveless marriage to her sickly cousin Camille (Tom Felton), who enters a passionate affair with her husband’s best friend Laurent (Isaac), with tragic results for everyone involved. Lange will play Camille’s mother, who he lives with alongside his wife.

The six time Oscar nominee (winning for “Tootsie” in 1983; she was also nominated for “Frances” that year), Lange has been wowing on the small screen lately, starring opposite Drew Barrymore in “Grey Gardens” and winning plaudits for her turn on “American Horror Story” (and she’ll be back for season two). So, the filmmakers are getting Lange at the moment when she is pretty red hot. And Lange and Olsen squaring off sounds pretty good to us.

Shooting on “Terese Raquin” kicks off in Serbia soon.
