Johnny Depp Wanted For Dean Martin Biopic Too?

Deana Martin, daughter of Rat Packer Dean Martin, has revealed that actor Johnny Depp is her number one choice to portray her late father in an upcoming biopic written by Bonnie Hunt and helmed by Joe Mantegna.

“[Depp] is a tremendous actor, he has that charm, that swagger, and the resemblance of my father is there” Martin said. “I’m sure he would do the role justice!”

It is not known what stage the project’s development is in or if Deana even has any involvement in its production, so she might be just wishful thinkin’ up a storm. Marty Scorsese had previously attempted a biopic on the acclaimed actor/comedian/singer with Tom Hanks as the lead but has since given up. Titled “Dino,” the project was written by “Casino” and “Goodfellas” writer Nicholas Pileggi and was set to focus of Martin’s “Ocean’s Eleven” days.

Scorsese has now attached himself to a biopic on fellow Rat Packer Frank Sinatra instead, of which Depp has also been rumored for. And now offense to Martin, but if Depp were to play Sinatra, there’s no way he’s going to play Martin as well. [Examiner]
