Actor Jonathan Majors (“Magazine Dreams”), once seen as a rising talent in Hollywood and moving toward leading-man status has been pushing toward a rebrand of his overall image after his guilty verdict (one count of assault in the third degree and one count of harassment in the second degree) for assaulting his ex-girlfriend, Grace Jabbari, something that the actor has been adamant didn’t happen or was exaggerated.
However, his side of things is eroding as new audio revealed by Rolling Stone Magazine has Majors himself admitting to the assault (“strangling and pushing” Jabbari) which could put a serious damper on his recent attempt to fix his image that recently started with a profile interview published by The Hollywood Reporter last week and “Creed III” director Michael B. Jordan signaling he’d like to work with Majors again after praising his “relisence” during the legal troubles.
In the aforementioned THR profile from Friday, Jordan directly mentioned in an email he’d like to work with the actor on the next “Creed” installment at Amazon MGM Studios that he’s also attached to direct and star, “I would love to make ‘Creed IV‘ together, among other projects.”
The next feature film effort from Majors, a body-building drama titled “Magazine Dreams” releases later this week in theaters and the audio leak will likely impact any sort of press junkets as the studio/distributor is likely to want to avoid any awkward moments on camera. Then again, they likely knew what they were getting into when attaching themselves to the Majors film knowing quite well the future landmines they might have to sidestep during the promotional tour.
It’s hard not to notice the timing of all this given, the THR profile, and the upcoming release of “Magazine Dreams.” Usually, stories of these kinds from Rolling Stone and other journalistic outlets tend to come out when other press coverage is making waves (think their previous coverage of Ezra Miller‘s self-implosion and eventual exodus from Hollywood) on their subject to make the biggest splash possible.
