Got a Tip?

‘Kong: Skull Island’ Director Jordan Vogt-Roberts To Direct Sega Vs. Nintendo Series Produced By Seth Rogen

Back in 2014, it was reported that Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg were interested in making a film about the long feud between Sega and Nintendo. However, since then, news about the film has been non-existent. But now, thanks to a new report, we know the project has been retooled as a limited series with a brand-new director attached.

Variety is reporting that “Kong: Skull Island” director Jordan Vogt-Roberts has been signed on to direct a limited series based on the novel “Console Wars: Sega, Nintendo, and the Battle that Defined a Generation” by author Blake J. Harris. The new series will follow Sega’s rise in popularity in the early-90s as the video game rival of the massive Nintendo.

The duo of Rogen and Goldberg are still involved in this new iteration of the project, serving as producers. The pilot episode of the series will be written by Mike Rosolio. Rosolio is probably best known for his work on a couple episodes of “American Vandal” and “Sean Saves the World.” However, he also has been hired to write the upcoming ‘Sesame Street’ film.

Vogt-Roberts, as mentioned, is probably best known for the surprisingly good “Kong: Skull Island.” However, before that he helmed “The Kings of Summer” and episodes of FX’s “You’re the Worst.” He’s also been heavily involved in the long-in-development video game adaptation “Metal Gear Solid.”

On Instagram, Vogt-Roberts confirmed the ‘Console Wars’ news and said, “Teaming up with [Seth Rogen] and a bunch of amazing people to bring this to life. Such a dream project filled with amazing stories and characters that defined my youth.”

There’s no release date set for ‘Console Wars.’
