When asked about a year ago about his participation in Paul Thomas Anderson‘s "Inherent Vice," Josh Brolin called it "great" and "absolute fucking chaos." More recently, the actor stated that a piece of frozen fruit has a major role. Now Brolin is serving up even more choice quotes about what is sounding like an increasingly awesome, absolutely bonkers movie.
Chatting with EW, Brolin revealed more about the process of the making the Thomas Pynchon adaptation. “With this [film], there was a lack of pretense, a really strange lack of pretense,” he said. “When something isn’t working, you can say, ‘This feels like a turd. Let’s cut the middle three pages. I’ll try to improvise and provide a bridge. How about some pancakes?’”
Yep, apparently pancakes factor into the movie as well. So, is this PTA’s feature length, oddball, "Top Chef"? We’ll have to wait and see. But Brolin compares the experience overall to a particular high concept circus troupe. “It’s Cirque du Soleil more than pretentious filmmaking,” he explained.
"Inherent Vice" arrives in limited release on December 12th and goes wide on January 9, 2015.
