Like oversized glasses with no lenses or ironic moustaches, celebs seem to be flocking to daytime soaps as some sort of winky performance piece. Of course, you already know about James Franco and his turn as an evil version of himself on “General Hospital,” and back in 2010 Julianne Moore reprised her role as Frannie Hughes on “As the World Turns” as that show came to a close. Now another actor is returning to his roots to say goodbye to an old friend.
EW reports that Josh Duhamel will bring back the character Leo du Pres on “All My Children,” the long-running series which will come to an end this year. Yep, before he was running from Transformers and hooking up with Fergie, Duhamel was making your mom’s heart beat faster on the show. The character was apparently killed in a waterfall accident (gotta love soap operas) in 2003, but as usual, there was no body, leaving any chance for Duhamel to come back wide open. Believe it or not, Duhamel was nominated for four Daytime Emmy awards, winning in 2002 for Supporting Actor. Who knew?
Anyway, his episode will air in August though EW suggests it might be more than one. Now take a trip down memory lane below, with a video of his first stint on the show in 1999. And no, the waitress isn’t Elizabeth Banks (at least not officially) but yeah, it’s eerie how similar they look and talk. What do you think? And yes, it’s definitely Elizabeth Banks in that scene.
