Got a Tip?

Justin Baldoni & Blake Lively Legal Battle Now Includes ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’

The legal battle between Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni has taken a bit of a left turn. Yes, they’re still fighting about who launched a smear campaign, who was bad behind the scenes, and various other things, but Baldoni’s latest move actually involves Marvel Studios and “Deadpool & Wolverine.” Specifically, Nicepool.

According to a recent court filing (via Variety), Justin Baldoni’s legal team is asking Disney and Marvel Studios to keep all of its documents regarding “Deadpool & Wolverine.” This is because the legal team believes the character of Nicepool in the film is actually based on Baldoni. Yes, that’s serious.

So, where does this latest accusation stem from? Well, Nicepool in the film says some things that Baldoni believes were aimed at him. Specifically, there’s a moment when Nicepool compliments Ladypool (played by Blake Lively) for “snapping back” after being pregnant. There’s also multiple instances where Nicepool claims to be a feminist (which is something that Baldoni has said in the past). Does this seem flimsy? Yes, it does. But apparently, now it’s part of this ugly legal battle.

This legal battle started in December, when Blake Lively started the process of filing a lawsuit against Baldoni for sexual harassment and launching a smear campaign against her. You can read details online for the full list of complaints. Then there was Baldoni replying with a suit of his own saying that Lively was actually smearing him.

You have to assume it’s only going to get messier as time goes by. But for now, it’s interesting to see how tangential things, such as “Deadpool & Wolverine,” are getting pulled into this.
