Buried within an otherwise boring story about American Idol, Nikke Finke (via ComingSoon), apparently not knowing when she has a story in her lap, buried an intriguing bit of news that Justin Timberlake has been offered the lead in Andrew Niccol’s upcoming flick “I’m.mortal.”
First announced in the spring, the sci-fi project takes place in a future where “time has become the currency. The rich are immortal, while the rest struggle to stay alive. When a rebel from the ghetto is falsely accused of murdering a wealthy man for his time, he is forced to go on the run with a beautiful hostage (Amanda Seyfried). Together, this duo rages against the system, living minute to minute. They discover that love is more powerful than all the time in the world.” In the film, aging stops at 25 years old, so a very young (or young-looking) cast is expected and Timberlake fits the bill. Amanda Seyfriend joined the film earlier this month.
No word yet on when filming will take place, but with Seyfried imminently shooting Catherine Hardwicke’s “Red Riding Hood” and Niccol slated to direct the Stephenie Meyer adaptation “The Host” early next year, this fall is a likely bet.
