Update: Chris Pratt, who has been killing it on “Parks & Recreation” this season, has joined “Moneyball” in the role of Scott Hatteberg — a first basemen whose career was resurrected by Oakland Athletics assistant G.M Paul DePodesta (Hill) after an elbow injury had left him without an MLB contract and unable to even hold or throw a baseball.
With shooting finally beginning today, almost a year after Steven Soderbergh’s version was halted, literally hours before it was to start filming, “Moneyball” is firming up the final bits of casting.
“Cold Case” star Kathryn Morris is in negotiations to join Brad Pitt, Robin Wright, Jonah Hill, Philip Seymour Hoffman and Stephen Bishop in the film. Morris is eyeing the role that every woman in America wants; playing Pitt’s wife. As you might recall, Pitt will be taking on the role of Oakland A’s manager Billy Beane.
Bennett Miller (“Capote”) is directing the film from a script by Steven Zaillian and Aaron Sorkin. We’re just glad this one is finally crossing home plate. Yeah, we made a baseball analogy. Sue us.
