Key & Peele’s ‘Keanu’ Slated For Work-In-Progress Screening Set At SXSW

KeanuWhile SXSW tends to provide a wide mix of programming from international arthouse fare to popcorn genre movies, they are quickly becoming know as the place where comedy hits first test the waters. In recent years, "Bridesmaids," "Neighbors," "Trainwreck," and "Spy" were all unveiled at SXSW, and went on to do big box office numbers. This year,  Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg‘s raunchy animated movie "Sausage Party" is slated for a work-in-progress screening in Austin, and now another movie is getting set for a sneak preview.

Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele‘s "Keanu" will also hit SXSW in a work-in-progress screening. The movie, directed by Peter Atencio, sees a mysterious catnapping triggering a chain of events that lead cousins Clarence and Rell into the belly of LA’s criminal underworld. Suburbanites at heart, the hapless pair are ill-equipped to deal with the threats and illegal activities that lay ahead, but they have no choice but to dive in and rescue Rell’s beloved kitten, Keanu. If that premise sounds ridiculous, then you clearly haven’t watched the awesome trailer.

After hitting SXSW, "Keanu" will open on April 29th.
