Kiefer Sutherland Reboots Himself Into 'Flatliners' Remake

While I was surely aware that a “Flatliners” remake has been brewing, of the movie projects that are in development it was far from the most compelling, but somewhere along the way, this redo got interesting. It has assembled a pretty strong ensemble including Ellen Page, Diego Luna, Nina Dobrev, James Norton and Kiersey Clemens, and in perhaps the most intriguing twist, a cast member from the 1990 original is coming back.

Kiefer Sutherland will be featuring in the new “Flatliners,” with Deadline reporting that he’ll be playing a “seasoned doctor” in the new flick. But let’s face it, we all know he’ll be the grown up and graduated Nelson from the original movie, who survived crossing over beyond death and returning, because having him playing a new character would be a missed opportunity, and just kinda dumb. And sure, it’s potentially gimmicky, but count me in as someone who wants to see how this gimmick plays out.

Directed by Niels Arden Oplev (“The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo,” “Dead Man Down“), “Flatliners” kicks off production this month in Toronto.
