We are only a month away from the release of what is likely 2023’s most anticipated film—Martin Scorsese’s “Killers of the Flower Moon.” Before the film’s premiere earlier this year at Cannes, this film was already at the top of a lot of people’s must-see list, but after the rave reviews from the prestigious festival, there’s no denying the hype has only grown for this crime drama.
As if there needed to be anymore teasing, Apple has gone ahead and released a new trailer for “Killers of the Flower Moon” giving our best look yet at the plot of the epic drama. The film tells the story of the Osage people and their relationship with the greedy white folks trying to take their wealth. This story is told from the point of view of an outsider (played by Leonardo DiCaprio) as he starts a relationship with an Osage woman (Lily Gladstone). From there, things get more complicated and violent as Osage people are killed and the government starts an investigation that would lead to the creation of the FBI. Needless to say, there’s a lot going on.
Joining DiCaprio and Gladstone in the cast are Robert De Niro, Jesse Plemons, Tantoo Cardinal, John Lithgow, Brendan Fraser, Cara Jade Myers, JaNae Collins, Jillian Dion, William Belleau, Louis Cancelmi, Tatanka Means, Michael Abbot Jr., Pat Healy, Scott Shepard, Jason Isbell, and Sturgill Simpson. The film is directed by Martin Scorsese.
As mentioned, “Killers of the Flower Moon” debuted earlier this year at Cannes, and in our review of the film, we said, “‘The Killers of the Flower Moon,’ a visceral epic, is the story of the wreckage of a people, the evil in white men’s hearts and the poison they spread, and the erasure that occurs when their stain touches you. It’s powerful, even when you’re left wondering if someone else could’ve spread the gospel.”
“Killers of the Flower Moon” arrives in theaters on October 20. You can watch the trailer below.
Here’s the synopsis:
At the turn of the 20th century, oil brought a fortune to the Osage Nation, who became some of the richest people in the world overnight. The wealth of these Native Americans immediately attracted white interlopers, who manipulated, extorted, and stole as much Osage money as they could before resorting to murder. Based on a true story and told through the improbable romance of Ernest Burkhart (Leonardo DiCaprio) and Mollie Kyle (Lily Gladstone), “Killers of the Flower Moon” is an epic western crime saga, where real love crosses paths with unspeakable betrayal. Also starring Robert De Niro and Jesse Plemons, “Killers of the Flower Moon” is directed by Academy Award winner Martin Scorsese from a screenplay by Eric Roth and Martin Scorsese, based on David Grann’s best-selling book.
