BBC America and AMC finally revealed the first images from Season 3 of “Killing Eve,” reminding you that the spy drama is coming back on April 26 after that shocking season 2 finale. Only you’d be surprised to see both characters alive and well, having apparently recovered from being shot in the back. Oh, and there’s also way more clowns than anyone would have anticipated.
That’s right, Sandra Oh’s Eve survived! After the MI6 agent was shot in the back by Villanelle (Jodie Comer) an assassin without a job, after Eve rejected her offer to run away together. Entertainment Weekly published a bunch of photos from season 3, which picks up six months after the previous season, with Villanelle living a new life in Barcelona and trying to establish some order in her life, which apparently also involves dressing up as a clown for some reason. Executive producer Sally Woodward Gentle called this the “most personal season — and the most emotionally rocky season” yet.
While Villanelle lives a new life, Eve is left in a mysterious location and having seemingly given up on MI6. “She’s a very, very bright woman who is good at whatever she decides to turn her hand to,” said Woodward Gentle. “She’s also very, very good at making dumplings. And Sandra turns out to be incredibly good at making dumplings — and at butchering, actually.”
The third season is being helmed by Suzanne Heathcote (“Fear the Walking Dead”), taking the baton from Emerald Fennell (“Promising Young Woman”) in season 2, and Phoebe Waller-Bridge (“Fleabag”). Season 3 of “Killing Eve” “continues the story of two women with brutal pasts, addicted to each other but now trying desperately to live their lives without their drug of choice. For Villanelle, the assassin without a job, Eve is dead. For Eve, the ex-MI6 operative hiding in plain sight, Villanelle will never find her. All seems fine until a shocking and personal death sets them on a collision course yet again. The journey back to each other will cost both of them friends, family, and allegiances…and perhaps a share of their souls.”
“Killing Eve” returns April 26. BBC America also released a teaser to coincide with Valentine’s Day, which you can watch below.
