“Luke Skywalker was always the most uninteresting character in ‘Star Wars’ because he’s the good guy. Good guys are boring,” Guy Ritchie said last year referring to his new protagonist who’s not just a knight in shining armor. In Ritchie’s upcoming would-be franchise, “King Arthur: Legend Of The Sword,” the titular hero breaks bad before he turns good.
“I think where the pitfall has often been is trying to make King Arthur bland and nice, and nice and bland,” he said. “The two qualities make rather compatible bed companions. Unfortunately, they’re not interesting to watch.”

That’s the oft-repeated narrative of ‘King Arthur’ from all the players. “He’s a bit rough around the edges, but he’s basically a survivor,” lead actor Charlie Hunnam told EW. “There’s definitely a harder edge than people would imagine.” OK, so there’s lots of shades of grey to this character, got it.
So, after a recent first look at Jude Law as the medieval villain and a new poster unveiled, ‘Legend Of The Sword’ was ripe for more at Comic-Con. So today in San Diego, Warner Bros. debuted the film’s first trailer. ‘King Arthur’ also co-stars Astrid Bergès-Frisbey, Djimon Hounsou, Eric Bana and more (including soccer star David Beckham).
“King Arthur: The Legend Of The Sword” was originally scheduled for summer 2016, but earlier this year was bumped to Feb. 17, 2017, and then got moved again to March 24, 2017. Fans of the legend will be hoping the shifts don’t mean a project that Warner Bros. has lost faith in or doesn’t know what to do with. Regardless, you can check out the new poster and trailer below.
